More than 100 years ago, a young man with an entrepreneurial spirit and a better idea began manufacturing lanterns in Wichita, Kansas. His name was W.C. Coleman, and the company he founded would change life in America. A man plagued with such poor vision he sometimes had to ask classmates to read aloud to him, Coleman saw a brilliant light in 1900 in a drugstore window that stopped him in his tracks. He inquired about the light inside and discovered he was able to read even the small print on a medicine bottle by the illumination. The lamps had mantles, not wicks, and were fueled by gasoline under pressure instead of coal oil. Soon afterward, Coleman started a lighting service that offered a "no light, no pay" clause--a big step forward for merchants who were burned by inferior products that rarely worked--and drew substantial interest from businesses that wanted to keep their lights on after dark.
In the ensuing years, Coleman expanded its product line well beyond lanterns. The company's current catalog is thick with products that make spending time outdoors a pleasure. There are coolers that keep food and drinks cold for days on end, comfortable airbeds that won't deflate during the night, a complete line of LED lights that last for years, powerful portable grills that cook with an authentic open-grill flame, and much, much more. Coleman has truly fashioned much of our outdoor camping experience, and expects to do so for generations to come.

It... - holds the air (Note, we did have to "top off" the air after the first night of use. But, after 2 straight months of use, we never had a problem with it deflating after that first night.) - is easy to get all the air out and fold up. You don't have to worry about trying to fit it back in a package that you can never get right. - is comfortable. 8 of 8 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Coleman Full-Sized Quickbed with Wrap 'N' Roll Storage (Sports) We used this air mattress for the first time on a 5 day camping trip.It was great-no leaks, packs up easily, comfortable. This is the kids air mattress and it survived the abuse they dished out- walking all over it, bouncing, etc. We'll have to see how it does on the next trip- but so far so good. 8 of 9 people found the following review helpful: By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Coleman Full-Sized Quickbed with Wrap 'N' Roll Storage (Sports) Last year i ordered a raised Downy Queen which was initially very impressive. I use air mattresses every night, so mine take a lot more abuse than a guest mattress would. within a couple of weeks my DQ was dipping in the middle.Within six months it had serious problems: first one side budged up and then the other. So recently i bought an inexpensive Nomad bed and this Coleman mattress. After inflating the bed, i was initially disappointed. It looked flimsy, reminded me of a 1950s blowup pool mattress, not very promising. But looks were definitely deceiving. It feels almost indistinguishable from a regular mattress...just a bit more comfortable. The valve is somewhat problematic as you must push it back in with your external pump attached or all the air will leak out, and the process of depressing the value with the pump seems a bit rough, like maybe you could damage the bed in the process. Coleman seriously needs to redesign that feature. Also the roll... Read more |
